Tobacco-Free & Smoke-Free Policy
Effective Date: July 2024
Scope
To promote a healthy environment for all who work at or visit 100 Federal Street, smoking is prohibited in all common areas of the building including the rest rooms, elevators, lobbies, stairwells, service corridors, and the garage.
Smoking is permitted in the designated area on Matthews Street.
Goals
- To reduce exposure of buildig occupants and indoor surfaces/systems to tobacco smoke and tobacco products, as well as smoke produced from the combustion of cannabis and controlled substances and the emissions produced by electronic smoking devices
- Permanently prohibit all forms of smoking, tobacco use and unregulated products within the building. Prohibited items include:
- cigarettes, cigars (commercially or self-rolled)
- pipes, hookah, water pipes
- electronic cigarettes
- smokeless tobacco (e.g., snuff, snus, chew)
- tobacco use including smoking, chewing, dipping or any other use of tobacco
Procedures and Strategies
To enforce the smoking policy, designate smoking areas are prohibited within the building.
Responsible Party
The overall responsible party for this policy is BXP, the Property Manager. In additon, additonal BXP personnel will be policing these areas and anyone violating the policy will be asked to refrain from using tobacco products onsite.
